The Aquarium

Grade 5 and Grade 4 visited the Monterey Bay Aquarium last week and this, respectively, to immerse themselves in their subjects of study- the Open Ocean and the Kelp Forest.  There is no place like the Monterey Bay Aquarium, with its Open Waters exhibit featuring sea turtles, sunfish, schooling sardines, two hammerhead sharks, and various species of tuna.  And its one-of-a-kind Kelp Forest exhibit with the toothy Sheephead, grinning Wolf Eel, and swaying kelp (we swayed too just watching).  Since education is the aquarium’s primary mission, we are admitted without charge to participate in discovery labs, research, and the ever important immersion into ocean habitats.  This is the next best thing to SCUBA certification if you ask me, and a tad more accessible.  Three cheers for the Monterey Bay Aquarium!
